We currently have an opportunity for a Offshore Construction Manager (Renewables) based in our London Office.

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for addressing construction and installation issues on assigned project.
  • Preparation/Review of onshore and offshore logistics procedures.
  • Preparation/Review of decommissioning procedures.
  • Review/Evaluation of metocean and geotechnical reports as well as weather forecast reports.
  • Capable of sitting with operator’s construction managers as a peer to discuss proposed designs.
  • Provide technical construction input into proposals.
  • Preparation of Execution Plans for Offshore Wind Farm construction.
  • Coordination of scheduling and estimating for the above.
  • Review contractor competencies and method statements.
  • Supervise contractor work with respect to quality, safety and programme.
  • Supervise specific works inspectors, as required.
  • Chair meetings and prepare reports.
  • Participate in the development of supply chain strategy for construction.
  • Develop and prepare construction scope of work and specifications for inclusion in ITTs.
  • Evaluate construction sections of EPCI tenders.
  • Support negotiation of construction sections of major EPCI.
  • Support preparation of CAPEX estimates for construction phase.
  • Ultimately manage construction part of EPCI contracts on behalf of project and clients.
  • Manage the flow of information across construction interfaces and with other stakeholders such as design, HSEQ, and commissioning.
  • Report on construction progress.
  • Liaise with Project Office in respect of construction matters.

Competencies & Soft Skills:

  • Able to evaluate or develop clear construction plans at project level.
  • Good understanding of relative costs and risks of offshore construction methods.
  • Extensive knowledge of contractors and equipment for transport and installation of one or more of : foundations, turbines and cables.
  • Awareness and some knowledge of international offshore construction supply chain.
  • Some knowledge / experience of construction of HV substations.
  • Able to confidently discuss construction matters at executive and client level.
  • Willingness to travel to and work on a temporary basis ( 2-3 weeks at a time) in the Far, ability to speak mandarin advantageous.

Qualifications: 

  • Degree or equivalent in civil, marine or naval architectural engineer.
  • Must have demonstrable experience in offshore windfarm structures, their construction, installation and/or maintenance
