We currently have an opportunity for a Safety Engineer based in our London Office.

The Role:

  • Conduct safety engineering studies and analyses in support of project and/or consultancy scopes of work with some guidance from Lead/Principal or Chief Engineers
  • Continue to develop core Safety Engineering competencies across range of areas whilst developing a few to expert level

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Perform and document safety/reliability studies & analyses in support of project and/or consultancy scopes of work e.g. Fire & Explosion Assessment, QRA
  • Prepare design & engineering documents, drawings, layouts and technical specifications e.g. fire & gas detection layouts, fire protection philosophy etc
  • Under guidance of Chief Engineer / Project Manager, prepare and plan CTRs ensuring all requirements in place to provide fit for purpose deliverables to time and cost
  • Look for opportunities to add value to deliverables
  • Provide assistance to Safety Engineering team members as/when required

Competencies & Soft Skills:

  • Perform detailed studies and analyses with minimal supervision and some initial guidance;
  • Good written (including report writing) and verbal communication;
  • Attention to detail
  • Multi-tasking with ability to respond to work-loads to meet agreed timescales for delivery
  • Awareness of applicable developing safety engineering technology and assessment techniques/methodologies
  • Good working knowledge of applicable regulations, codes of practice, standards and internal procedures
  • Strong IT literacy
  • Familiarity with 2-3 analysis tools e.g. Phast, Bow-tieXP

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Masters Degree in Engineering, Science or Mathematics (if latter then post graduate studies in relevant safety engineering field arenormally required)
  • Min 18 months post graduate experience in safety engineering (or 1 year safety engineering combined with a min of 1 year in similar discipline e.g. process)
  • Identified requirements for and working towards Chartered Engineer status
