We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Environmental Engineer based in our Wimbledon offices.

The Role:   

  • Conduct and when applicable lead environmental engineering studies, including managing sub-contracted scopes of work.
  • Provide input and support to ODE Duty Holder Operations e.g. environmental considerations, permits and reporting.
  • Provide input and support to bids/tenders/proposals and ensure timely achievement of safety & environmental engineering related deliverables

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Perform and document environmental studies & analyses in support of project and/or consultancy scopes of work;
  • Coordination of / ensuring compliance against environmentally specific regulatory submissions, plans etc., as required by Duty Holder (SCR2015) / Pipeline Operator (PSR1998);
  • Management of environmental and chemical permits through for example CEFAS and BEIS/DECC;
  • Review, update and periodic update of environmental elements of Management systems, CMAPP and coordination of ISO14001 accreditation;
  • Identifying opportunities for provision of Environmental support, tenders and planning;
  • Chair / scribe environmental / safety related workshops e.g. ENVID;
  • Under guidance of Chief Engineer / Project Manager, prepare and plan CTRs ensuring all requirements in place to provide fit for purpose deliverables to time and cost;
  • Within bounds set by Chief Engineer / Project Manager, liaise with clients directly to assure client requirements are being captured within the CTR and then are being met;
  • Support to Incident/Crisis Management teams when incident has environmental impact
  • Train / provide knowledge sharing within department / organisation
  • Review and/or management of environmental 3rd party support arrangements e.g. oil spill containment, training etc.
  • Identify opportunities for expansion, required resources and support management in recruitment etc.
  • Look for opportunities to add value to deliverables;
  • Provide input to Bids / Scopes of Work and Business Development plans (under direction of Chief Engineer / Bid Leader / Project Manager);
  • Provide assistance to Line Manager as/when required.
  • Continue to develop core Safety & Environmental Engineering competencies across range of areas whilst developing a few to expert level.
  • Support ODE Operations as appropriate e.g. offshore inspections, management of regulatory requirements, conduct risk assessments, provide training.

Safety and Environmental Related Tasks:

  • Contribute towards updates to / compliance with the ODE Safety Cases, CMAPP, management systems and all subsidiary SHEQ documents.
  • Leading by example to maintain a strong SHEQ culture.
  • Ensuring sufficient capability and competence of third part suppliers and staff to deliver against requirements.

Competencies & Soft Skills:

  • Perform detailed studies and analyses with minimal supervision;
  • Good written and verbal communication with strong report writing;
  • Able to present cohesive arguments;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Multi-tasking with ability to self-manage work-loads and work-loads of others to meet agreed timescales for delivery;
  • Awareness of applicable developing safety engineering technology and assessment techniques/methodologies;
  • Good working knowledge of applicable regulations, codes of practice, standards and internal procedures;
  • Strong IT literacy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Masters Degree in Engineering, Environmental studies, Science or Mathematics (if latter two then post-graduate studies in relevant environmental field are normally required)
  • Post graduate experience in environmental engineering
  • Chartered Engineer with recognised institute e.g. IChemE, IMechE, Energy Institute
