Active Cup Champions
30th January 2012A crack team of ODE’s graduates has won the highly competitive ECITB Active Cup, beating intense competition from other heavyweight contractor organisations. ODE’s team of five pulled off a stunning victory, with KBR and Saipem coming in second and third place respectively.
The Active Cup is an annual competitive Project Management training event sponsored by the Engineering and Construction Industry Training Board and organised by the Cranfield School of Management. It is an excellent learning event which forms part of ODE’s Professional Development Scheme for graduate engineers. Many major companies entered teams into the event- including Bechtel, Foster Wheeler, Amec and CB&I.
This year each team had to manage a simulated project to finance, procure and construct an environmental monitoring station downstream of an industrial site on the River Amazon over 28 intensive rounds, each round being a project week. The ODE team put in some great team work over three days and two very long nights. After closing presentations by the leading teams, ODE were announced as the winning team. In reaching their decision the judges considered overall profit and demonstration of good Active project management principles.
