West Franklin Gas and Condensate Field

Discipline: Brownfield Engineering

Client: Total

ODE, in a joint venture with Doris Engineering, was awarded a contract for basic engineering for the West Franklin field development.  The field represents a number of challenges because of the combination of high pressure/high temperature (900 bar, 200°C) and acid gas properties (60ppm H2S and 2.5 mol% CO2 ).

The scope was a combination of greenfield and brownfield engineering, including modifications to the existing installation for a 6km tieback, from West Franklin to the Elgin wellhead platform (WHP) via a pipeline and controls bundle. There was also new cantilevered decking for process and pigging facilities and modifications to Elgin PUQ (production/utilities/quarters).

ODE was specifically responsible for the brownfield engineering work scope with its project team based in Kingston-upon-Thames and key interface personnel based at DORIS' offices in Paris.
