Secondment Administrator (Maternity cover) - London

We currently have an opportunity for a Secondment Administrator (Maternity cover) based in our London Office on a fixed term contract basis.

The Role

The candidate will be required to provide administrative support across specific secondment projects.

Scope of Responsibilities

The candidate will be required to:

  • Produce applications for payment for client approval.
  • Raises CTR and ensures the manhours are correct against COO.
  • Acts as the interface between client and the Engineering Manager.
  • Produce Monthly Reports including expenditure and forecasts for client approval.
  • Update and maintain large excel table containing manhours and expenses data. Create and maintain internal tracking information for management including secondment duration, expenses, invoice status etc.
  • Review and manage secondees expenses claims to ensure they are entered correctly and submitted promptly.

Competencies & Soft Skills

The successful candidate will have:

  • Advanced skills with MS Word and Excel (experience in writing and combining formulas such as SUMIFS, SUMPRODUCT, Index, Vlookup, etc).
  • Flexibility and adaptability.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Organisational skills and the ability to multitask.
  • The ability to be proactive and take the initiative.
  • High regard for detail.

Engineering Manager (Offshore Windfarm) - Long Term Contract - Glasgow

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Manager, working on an offshore windfarm development currently in the construction phase, as a secondee based in our client’s office in Glasgow.

The Role

The Engineering Manager is a key role within the Offshore Renewables Business, focusing on the delivery of large-scale offshore wind projects in the UK, Europe and overseas.

Belonging to the Project Services team and reporting to a Department Manager, the Engineering Manager/Coordinator will be responsible for implementing robust and cost effective engineering strategies and plans, tendering, negotiating and managing offshore supply, installation and maintenance contracts, planning and implementing delivery sites and logistics, complying with company and business engineering standards and technical acceptance criteria, and ensuring quality, best practices and excellent H&SE performance are applied. The candidate will be managing engineering activities and decisions across the offshore business.

The individual will be working as part of a global business with activities in many countries across Europe and the rest of the world. The position may require frequent travel to various locations in the UK and overseas and the individual should be capable of managing teams working at different project locations.

The Engineering Manager/Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and managing the engineering activities of the OFTO (transmission) package of works during the tendering, FEED and early design phase of the project. It will involve the coordination and management of a multidiscipline internal team of engineers, external specialist consultants and the equipment/package suppliers.

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Engineering Manager/Coordinator for a key package within an offshore Wind project, providing key engineering advice, assessment and recommendations to ensure delivery of a multi-contract package within time, to budget and quality following industry best practice and observing the maximum respect for Health, Safety and the Environment to ensure regulatory and legal compliance.
  • Provide professional advice on engineering strategies / risk levels and commercial agreements to the key package, to ensure that cost effective technical solutions are identified, fully evaluated and the risk profile is fully understood by the project.
  • Ensure that all assessment, advice and recommendations are fully documented in accordance with all internal procedures and industry best practice, and that sufficient technical and commercial due diligence (whether internal or external) exists to support those business decisions.
  • Provide leadership in engineering management and coordination to key package members, potentially comprising employees working within a number of countries throughout Europe and the USA, to ensure competencies are maintained (or enhanced).
  • Deliver consistent, high quality, cost effective engineering advice to the key packages and Projects.
  • Resource the appropriate organisation structure to ensure delivery of the key work packages to programme and budget.
  • Manage the certification process with independent verification bodies (where applicable) to reduce design risk and enhance asset value.
  • Ensure that health and safety and environmental requirements are fully considered and adhered to in design to ensure compliance with legislation and industry best practice.
  • Manage the inspection and commissioning of appropriate aspects of offshore plant to ensure that assets are supplied and installed to the required quality and engineering standards.
  • Maintain full awareness of the latest technical and commercial developments and identify suitable new technologies that have the potential to reduce cost and risk, or improve safety.
  • Implement offshore standards, procedures, tools, best practices and quality requirements for key work packages to ensure that packages are delivered according to specification, budget and programme without compromising safety.
  • Ensure that appropriate lessons learnt regarding offshore wind farm development and construction are captured and shared across the different Offshore Project work packages. Collaborate with the Lead/Principal Engineer to ensure that the engineering team implements them to enhance business value.

Competencies & Soft Skills

  • Experience in managing and coordinating engineering activities in a multifunction team, preferably in offshore wind, transmission systems and/or HVDC projects
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Working towards Chartered status.
  • Substantial experience designing and working in the offshore industry, preferably offshore wind.
  • Experience of leading teams involved in multidisciplinary work packages in international environments.
  • Substantial experience in dealing with health and safety and environmental legislation associated with construction, marine and offshore projects.
  • Proven experience in delivery of large packages, including contract management, programme management, cost and risk control.
  • Sound relationship management skills and confidence working with Senior Management.
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to influence and develop key engineering decisions.
  • Excellent report writing, presentation skills and ability to summarize key parameters and drivers impacting the package.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Sound planning and analysis skills with the ability to look forward and see / anticipate problems and thereafter plan and implements mitigating solutions to negate the effect of such problems.

Essential Qualities

  • Knowledge and experience of offshore/marine sector
  • Health and safety management skills
  • Experience of engineering design and delivery
  • Fluent in English
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Educated to Degree level in relevant engineering discipline
  • Substantial experience in a relevant field (offshore wind or transmissions systems preferable)
  • IT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems and other IT based project management software
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation associated with offshore/marine construction projects
  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering procedures, standards and guidance
  • Experience of working in highly skilled teams
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Flexible to travel around the UK and overseas

Qualifications

Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline. Working towards Chartered status.

Senior O&M Engineer - Contract - London

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Senior O&M Engineer, working on an offshore windfarm development currently in the construction phase, as a secondee based in our client’s office in central London. (Estimated duration for the contract is 6 months with the possiblity of extension up to 7 months)

The Role

  • Work within the O&M package to support the handover of the project to the Project  site team and asset management functions.
  • Act as the primary interface between O&M package and the EPC packages covering handover of wind turbines,
    array cables, foundations, SCADA, facilities and transmission assets.
  • Provide clear reports on the status of each package including risks, scope, programme and documentation.
  • Support the project to demonstrate full compliance with CDM regulations through the handover process.
  • Implement the project governance process around handover of assets from execution into operations.
  • The role reports into the Lead O&M Engineer but will need to work independently across the project, managing interfaces into each EPC package as well as the project site team and the asset management functions.
