Sr Process Engineer - Great Yarmouth

We currently have an opportunity for a Sr Process Engineer based in our Great Yarmouth Office on a contract basis.

The Role

To join the process engineering department and work across a range of oil and gas related projects, from conceptual studies through FEED to detail design.  This will include both greenfield and brownfield engineering for offshore and onshore facilities.

Scope of Responsibilities

The engineer will be expected to work independently on several multi-discipline work scopes, or as a member of a larger process team under guidance from the lead process engineer.

 

Required experience should specifically include:

  • Working on upstream oil and gas projects, including offshore facilities.
  • Creating and developing HYSYS process simulation models.
  • Familiarity with upstream oil and gas treatment processes and utilities.
  • Preparation of process flow diagrams and heat and mass balances.
  • Specification of process equipment and data sheet preparation.
  • Producing piping hydraulic calculations and system pressure rating.
  • Knowledge of process control and shutdown systems.
  • Supervision of junior process engineers

Responsibilities will include:

  • Basis of Design development.
  • Creation of HYSYS simulation models and heat and mass balances.
  • Specification of process systems including control schemes.
  • Development of data sheets and equipment lists.
  • Development of PFDs and P&IDs.
  • Preparation of study reports.
  • Liaison with other multi-discipline team members.
  • Inputs to HAZID and HAZOP reviews.
  • Presentations of study work and conclusions.
  • Managing a small process team

The Role

The key aims of the role are:

  • Familiar with latest design developments, statutory regulations, code of practice and offshore industry standards related to rig conversion.
  • Good theoretical basis and hands on experiences on structural application of converted rig
  • Conversant with aspects of offshore environmental loading
  • Motion and stability analysis of rig during tow
  • Extreme In place analysis of rig structure
  • Determination of rig motion and fatigue cycles for the service life
  • Fatigue analysis of rig structure
  • Familiar with the functional requirements of topsides structure, rig, jacket and capable of offering practical solutions
  • Design of offshore topside structures for the converted rig
  • Assessing and reviewing the spud can penetration studies
  • Familiar with the installation/transportation procedure of converted rig
  • Competence in the use of software such as ANSYS, SESAM, or to a less degree SACS and STAADPRO.
  • Work with lead engineer to achieve a satisfactory conclusion of the project within the allotted budget and timescale

  • Produce CAD drawings.

  • Be responsible for issuing documentation through DCC process.

  • Provide support to ODE Duty Holder Operations e.g. development and management of permits and consents;
  • Provide input and support to bids/tenders/proposals and ensure timely achievement of safety & environmental engineering related deliverables;
  • Develop capability and work towards Chartership through structured Graduate development programme

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Perform and document safety/environment/reliability studies & analyses in support of project and/or consultancy scopes of work e.g. Fire & Explosion Assessment, QRA;
  • Prepare design & engineering documents, drawings, layouts and technical specifications e.g. fire & gas detection layouts, fire protection philosophy etc.;
  • Produce and/or amend technical reports, dossiers, procedures etc.
  • Attend and scribe at workshops e.g. HAZID/ENVID, HAZOPs, SIL/LOPA.
  • Take active role in Graduate Development scheme.
  • Provide assistance to Line Manager as/when required.

  • Design basis
  • Route selection
  • Alignment sheets
  • Wall thickness selection
  • Pipeline in-place and installation analyses
  • Pipeline expansion and buckling analysis
  • Corrosion protection
  • Risk assessments and protection design
  • Specifications and data sheets, requisition and bid analysis of necessary materials and pipeline components
  • Resolution of technical issues liaising as necessary with clients, suppliers and internal engineers and staff.
  • Input to material vendor and /or installation contractor selection.
  • Remain up to date with design requirements, statutory regulations, codes of practice and industry standards.
  • Responsible for the identification of any design changes as a result of a variation to the contract arising within the scope of work and timely notification to the Project Manager.
