Project Estimator The Projects Projects will vary from small studies to large international field developments. Current projects include a significant North Sea gravity base platform decommissioning study, a Canadian wind farm study and an Oil and Gas Development Offshore Gabon. The post is a staff position within the ode Kingston-upon-Thames office and will provide an attractive remuneration package which will reflect the capability and experience of the successful candidate. A level of training and familiarisation in the renewable energy and oil and gas industry will be provided to the right candidate. What you will do The estimator is required to develop cost estimates for the engineering, construction and operation of oil and gas and renewable energy projects. The work will be varied and may include development of estimates for engineering, procurement, construction, modification, or decommissioning of wind farms, wave power, tidal power, offshore oil and gas platforms and onshore terminals and refineries. What we would like you to offer us The successful candidate will be highly motivated and works in an organised manner and has knowledge of how to structure and build up cost estimates. The post may suit an estimator or quantity surveyor with experience in the civil construction or building industry. What you will do Your core role will be to support and oversee the financial and operational success of a range of engineering projects, allocating resources to ensure that each project has the staff and facilities needed for successful completion. Working with the Business Acquisition Manager, you will also identify and target appropriate forthcoming opportunities (this is likely to be on an international basis) then participate in the tender/negotiation process. Subsequently you will ensure that projects are delivered technically correct, on time and within budget Working with the London Regional Manager and Engineering Manager, you will also develop and grow the capability further within ode for undertaking major projects through the recruitment and development of appropriate personnel and your objective will be to establish ode London as a centre of excellence for successfully undertaking major international projects What we would like you to offer us You should be a degree-qualified engineer (mechanical, chemical or structural) ideally with a management qualification. You should also be a Chartered Engineer and you are likely to have substantial experience of managing oil, gas and renewables projects and will need a broad understanding of all engineering disciplines. Senior Project Manager Kingston-Upon-Thames What we offer you This is a move into a fast-moving and technically diverse environment. ode is unique and often takes projects from feasibility to completion and beyond. What you will do This is a role for an experienced Project Manager who will lead forthcoming major offshore oil & gas/renewable energy development projects. Specific responsibilities will include: • Interpreting the contract and work-scope requirements and to define the project requirements and deliverables. • Representing ode and in communication with the client and represent the client in dealings with outside organisations. • Project management covering cost and schedule, safety, engineering, contractual reports, interim and final valuations, procurement and sub-contracts and quality assurance. • Co-ordination and supervision of all contracts with outside organisations connected with the project. • Ensuring that the project team conforms to the Project Safety & Environmental Plan and that the Project Quality Plan and the specific quality practices are implemented. • Timely identification and notification to the Company management and client of contractual or commercial implications of any variations to the contract and management of any subsequent the agreement of such variations with the client. • Approval of all project documents (procedures, standards, specifications, requisitions, calculations and drawings etc.) before issue to the client or other organisations. • The day-to-day administration of the project. What we would like you to offer us You should be a Chartered Engineer with substantial industry experience in the project management of design, fabrication, installation and start-up of offshore oil & gas and/or renewable energy projects. We are committed to developing our position as a leader in the renewable energy sector and have a clear target to increase the proportion of renewables in our portfolio of work. This is a long-term appointment with opportunities for career development and rapid progression. An internal mentor with substantial experience in the relevant discipline has already been nominated for each position and will provide career advice and support and supervise ongoing training and professional development. What you will do We plan to engage four Graduate Engineers: • Structural Engineer – Kingston-Upon-Thames base Working on the analysis of complex steel structures associated with oil & gas and renewable energy projects using SACS analysis software, input to detailed design of structural elements and preparation of engineering study and design reports. • Environmental Science Engineer - Kingston-Upon-Thames base Input primarily to offshore renewable energy projects and associated consultancy services with a focus on llicence applications, planning consents and aspects of environmental impact assessments. • Process Engineer – Great Yarmouth base Solution of oil & gas related process engineering problems from first principles, early input into projects before scope is clearly defined, preparation of technical reports, input to engineering design and presentations to clients. • Controls & Instrumentation Engineer – Great Yarmouth base Undertaking engineering design within multi discipline engineering projects, comprising piping and instrument diagrams, instrumentation data sheets, cause and effects diagrams and the production of control and instrument specifications. What we would like you to offer us You will ideally hold a masters degree in a related discipline with a course content aligned to ode’s activities in offshore, onshore and renewable energy engineering. We shall also look for the ability to work both on your own initiative and as part of a project team, enthusiasm for your discipline, commitment to high professional standards and an aptitude for innovative problem-solving. You must currently have the legal right to work in the UK.
