Detailed Description :

Background

The Thebaud field is one of six fields that make up the Sable Offshore Energy Project (SOEP). All six fields are located around Sable Island, located approximately 200km off the coast of Nova Scotia. Extensive modification work was required at the existing Thebaud Process Platform to integrate the new Compression Platform facilities.

The Brownfield modifications involved the installation of the bridge landing structure, the tie in of process gas lines , fuel gas lines, chemical injection and HP and LP flare lines plus the integration of the generation and Control and safety systems. The work was performed in our Yarmouth and London offices and management of the overall work package in Halifax Nova Scotia. ode supplied the construction supervisors for the offshore installation phase.

The ode design for the installation due to crane limitations involved the use of mini modules hooked on to the extremities of the Thebaud structure with under slung piping that could be jacked or lowered into position.

Scope of Work

ode were involved in the project from the beginning and provided engineering and estimating services to Saipem the main contractor during the bid phase, using ode standard estimating procedures. In addition ode reviewed the FEED design and made major modifications to the overall design to facilitate the installation minimising shutdown durations. Once the contract had been awarded ode supplied the Work Package 3 project Manager and Engineering Manager. The project manager controlled the overall detail design, fabrication and Installation. The Engineering Manager reviewed and agreed the engineering and design produced by SNCLavalin. ode produced the project plan, detailed the SIMOPS requirements, and performed Safety reviews, manning studies, flare radiation analysis, structural analysis (see separate Data Sheet).

ode's Construction Managers and Brownfield specialists produced the overall construction plan, and work packs, monitored the fabrication of the mini modules and spools, produced the installation procedures in co operation with Saipem Lifting Specialists and provided offshore management for the 6 month construction Phase.
