Front Detail Engineering (FDE)

The FDE activities, executed over a 7 month period, encompass the preparation of engineering documents for the scope of work listed above. This is developed to :

  • Issue of AFC (Approved for Construction) documents – for Primary Structures.
  • Confirmation of P&IDs including HAZOP studies and issued for Approval.
  • Issue of IFC (Issued for Comments) then IFA (Issued For Approval) – for All other disciplines.
  • Preparation of datasheets, MTOs and technical input to enable the preparation and issue of enquiry requisitions.
  • Technical bid evaluations of all major packages and long lead bulk materials including technical recommendations and issue of PO Requisitions.

During the FDE phase 3D-CAD PDMS software was used to model the structure, main piping systems and equipment to confirm the layout and provide piping MTOs. All critical lines were stress analysed at this time.

Detailed Design Engineering (DDE)

The DDE encompasses the completion of the remaining part of the detailed engineering following FDE. This was carried out in Tehran by a ‘local’ Engineering Company on a subcontract basis under ode supervision.

The supervision included :

  • Dedicated Engineering Manager in Iran until completion of DDE.
  • Visiting Senior Lead Engineers who have led during the FDE phase.
