Scope of Work:

There were four main elements to the overall scope of work undertaken by ode. These comprised;

  1. Well Abandonment Methodologies
  2. Cost Estimates & Schedule
  3. New and Emerging Technology Review
  4. Final Report

Well Abandonment Methodologies

  • Identification of legislative requirements (UK and Norway, incl. relevant UKOOA guidelines).
  • Obtaining any relevant TEUK guidelines or policies that would impact abandonment strategies.
  • Preparation of well abandonment methodologies and scopes of work for each platform.
  • Review of well data and categorise wells into groups to facilitate estimating activities.
  • Identification of any 'special' wells that may require particular plugging and abandonment provisions.

Cost Estimates & Schedule

  • Preparation of auditable CAPEX estimates on a well grouping and platform basis for all plugging & abandonment (P & A) activities.
  • Estimates including engineering & preparatory works, P & A operations, marine & logistics support, TEUK facilities support, rental equipment and consumables, material recovery and disposal, third party costs (EIA, consents etc).
  • Estimates prepared assuming current prices with escalation applied in agreement with TEUK as required.
  • Identification of key cost drivers and potential growth areas.
  • Preparation of a well abandonment project schedule for each platform.

New and Emerging Technology Review

  • Identify and assess new and emerging technologies based upon P & A requirements for well groupings, existing platform equipment for abandonment work and deck/mudline configurations.
  • Liaison with specialist contractors as agreed and required.
  • Perform high-level cost/benefit review.

Final Report

  • Preparation of final report
  • Present report and study results to TEUK
