About the Operations Support Engineer Role:

We are looking for a proactive and technically capable Operations Support Engineer to join our Asset Support team, based in our Great Yarmouth office, supporting offshore assets with occasional offshore visits as required.

The role supports the day-to-day operation and maintenance for offshore assets, with a strong focus on equipment reliability, availability and performance. You will work closely with operations teams, discipline engineers, vendors, contractors and Technical Authorities to manage operational and engineering risks, particularly Major Accident Hazards (MAHs) and Safety and Environmentally Critical Elements (SECEs).

A full job profile is available, but in summary the key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting day-to-day offshore operations and maintenance activities
  • Managing operational and engineering risks, with particular focus on MAHs and SECEs
  • Monitoring and managing equipment reliability, availability and performance in line with industry best practice
  • Producing and maintaining equipment and package reliability and availability data
  • Developing and maintaining performance indicators (PI) dashboards and supporting data analytics
  • Organising and managing the maintenance work order close-out process
  • Providing technical support to operations teams, including troubleshooting and performance optimisation
  • Supporting vendor liaison, equipment repair expediting and specialist input as required
  • Carrying out equipment failure root cause analysis and supporting continuous improvement initiatives
  • Reviewing maintenance strategies and procedures in line with vendor recommendations, best practice and operational experience
  • Liaising with Technical Authorities to obtain technical approval and specialist advice

 

Skills, Experience and qualities we are looking for:

  • Preferably HNC / HND or equivalent qualification
  • Knowledge and experience of operations and maintenance within southern North Sea gas production or similar offshore environments
  • Good operational experience within offshore facilities or asset support roles
  • Strong understanding of Major Accident Hazards, SECEs and asset integrity principles
  • Experience complying with Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
  • Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret reliability and performance data
  • Excellent organisational and change control skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing for different audiences
  • High level of IT literacy, including Microsoft Office applications
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Flexible approach with willingness to travel offshore, attend meetings and training as required
  • Full and valid UK driving licence
  • Offshore certification (MIST, BOSIET/FOET, medical certificate and secondary means of escape training) is desirable but not essential.
