ODE Asset Management celebrates First Gas with IOG from the Blythe field

14th March, 2022

Blythe Platform

ODE Asset Management Ltd (ODE AM), as Installation and Pipeline Operator on behalf of IOG plc (IOG), is pleased to note the confirmation of first gas from the Blythe field in the Southern North Sea. The field, containing the Blythe platform, is part of Phase 1 of IOG’s Saturn Banks Project.  First gas was achieved yesterday, 13th March.

The gas and condensate produced from Blythe is transported via the Saturn Banks Pipeline System (formerly the Thames Pipeline) to IOG’s onshore reception facilities at Perenco’s Bacton terminal in Norfolk.

ODE AM has deployed its extensive experience across this asset during pre-operations to help IOG to achieve first gas. The company has been providing operational support to IOG since 2017 prior to being selected as Installation and Pipeline Operator for Phase 1 of the Saturn Banks Project in May 2021.

This IOG-specific support, paired with wider expertise gained from ongoing Installation and Pipeline Operator contracts for assets including NEO Energy’s Babbage platform and Alpha Petroleum’s Tors (Kilmar & Garrow) and Wenlock platforms, will support ODE AM as the company grows its portfolio of managed assets.

In response to the achievement of first gas, Sandy Reid, ODE AM’s Managing Director, commented, “Despite challenges posed by COVID-19, successful collaboration between ODE AM and IOG has helped to achieve this landmark. Our focus remains on ensuring safe and efficient operations across the Blythe field on behalf of IOG and tailoring our service offering to their needs.”

Andrew Hockey, CEO of IOG, commented, “I would like to thank the ODE AM team for their important contribution to delivering the First Gas milestone. We look forward to their continued safe and efficient stewardship of our Phase 1 assets.”
